Friday 4/02/10 - My messy lil' man

This afternoon/early evening hasn't gone quite the way I had planned.  I had some minor delays that prevented me from making dinner at the "usual" time.  Usually around 5-5:30 pm I have dinner ready and on the table.  Well, our poor little girl was having a bit of trouble all day.  Since she's been 1 month old, she's always had problems with constipation.  Up until she was a year old, we would put Karo syrup in her bottles and VIOLA!  The problem was gone.  Well, unfortunately Karo syrup doesn't work for anyone over 1 year old.  We give her fiber gummies twice a day (a stool softener) that was working on and off.  We thought that once Brianna was completely potty trained all that would stop.  Well, she's been completely potty trained for quite some time now and for some unknown reason she has this problem again...UGH.  It makes me so sad to see her in pain.  She can barely walk and she refuses to sit down.  She kept telling me her butt hurt, but she couldn't go to the bathroom.  Now, let me say one thing here...constipation is definately NOT one thing I'm very familiar with.  I've only had that problem twice...once after having each of my kids (thanks to Percocet).  So, when she has this problem, I'm not real sure about what to do for an almost 4 year old.  She HATES suppositories and will make herself so upset until she throws up.  I'm not into cleaning up barf so I decided to head to Walgreens to see if I could find something else for her.  I found liquid glycerin suppositories that worked great!  For now, her bowels are on track. I'm keepin' my fingers crossed that they'll stay that way.

Sorry, I didn't mean to include my 3 year old's bowels in the same post with my dinner post.   BUT just saying what led to my delay in making dinner...lol.   Needless to say I didn't get dinner on the table til after 7 pm thanks to the above mentioned episode.  Everyone was starvin' Marvin around here so I had to make dinner FAST.  I decided to make spaghetti with homemade meatballs (I posted that reciped a month or so ago - for your reference) since that doesn't take me very long to make it.  I wanted to make something else, but I didn't think the kids or Jack wanted to wait til 9 pm to eat!  When it was ready, I asked Jack to take Jacob's shirt off.  He asked me, "And put on what?"  I told him, "Nothing, leave his shirt off.  You know how messy this kid is."   Jack looked at me like I had two heads or something.  I told him to trust me, I know what I'm talkin' about.   I took pictures to show you WHY I've learned to take Jacob's shirt off when he eats certain things.  Spaghetti is one of these things....EVERY Mom knows THAT!

Jacob likes to feed himself.  He's not real good at always making the food go INTO his mouth.

She felt comfortable now to sit down to eat.  She still didn't eat that much.  This was about all she ate.  No wonder this kid STILL weighs only 35 lbs.

This bite actually made it to his mouth

But it didn't get in!  OOOPPS!!

Ahhh man!  I missed my mouth AGAIN, Mommy!

Here mommy, wanna bite?

She was making funny faces at me.  I can always tell when she's feeling better. =)

I don't remember if he was telling me what an elephant says (with arm/hand movements) or if he was getting aggrevated with all the pictures I was taking.

I think he was getting aggrevated cause he wanted out.  What do you think?  I had to take him outside to hose him off.  Just kidding.  I wanted to though.  =)   This time actually wasn't as bad as it could've been.  I've seen this messy boy much worse!

And that, my friends, is why I take my boy's shirt off when he eats!

THE END :D
