Sunday 5/30/10 - Brianna's Birthday Party!

Today we had Brianna's birthday party at the Park in town.  Jack and I "THOUGHT" it would be soooo much easier than having it at our house.  Well, I'm here to tell you, we thought WRONG.  OMG.  Neither one of us thought about how many times we'd have to load and unload our vehicles.  I was pooped LONG before we even got to the park for the party!  Thank you to all who were kind enough to lend a hand to an exhaused mom!  I can't tell you how much I appreciated it!  Thank you Tracy, Nina Mae, my mom, my father in law and whom ever else I've forgotten to mention!  The day started out okay, but about 2 hours before the party, that's when things got a little crazy.  I planned on making my icing for my cupcakes by scratch.  I had this awesome new recipe that I wanted to try.  Jack was sweet to try to make it for me.  Let's just say it didn't turn out the way it was supposed to so I had to make a mad dash to the store for icing.  Disappointing, but do able.  Next, while we were loading vehicles, somewhere in the mix we lost Jacob.  Now, I'm sure you're saying to yourselves, "Now how do you lose your son?"  Let me tell you, it's easier than I ever would've imagined.  I was in a panick, FREAKING out like crazy.  Jack wasn't far behind me.  While Jack and I were taking things to the car, Jacob some how snuck out the door, went down the stairs and disappeared.  My first thought was, "OMG.  The road!  It's a busy country road!  He COULD get hit!"  Jack and I ran all over the place, for what seemed like an eternity, but I'm sure wasn't more than maybe 5-10 minutes.  That's a long time when you think you've lost one of your children.  I looked down in the basement, in bedrooms, the bathroom under tables, under beds.  You name it, I looked under it.  I went into a woman on a mission mode.   Jack was looking outside.  My heart was up in my throat, my stomach sunk down to my toes.  I think I may have stopped breathing a couple of times too.  Then...I  heard Jack say, "OMG, I found him."  That's all he said.  They way he said it, it didn't sound very reassuring.  Made me think something bad happened for a second.  I ran outside and said, "Well, where did you find him? You'd BETTER tell me NOW!!!"  I STILL didn't see my boy anywhere.  Then, Jack AND Jacob came walking out from around one of our cars.  Jack was holding Jacob's hand.  He said Jacob was holding onto one of the car door handles trying to get in.  PHEW!!!  Thank goodness that's as far as he got!  I have no idea how he made it past either of us, but he did.  He was standing next to Brianna looking out the window watching us when I last saw him.  I had asked her if she knew where Jacob was a few times.  All she would say was, "I don't know."  Later, she admitted to me that she saw him go outside.  She got into trouble for lying to me, when she KNEW all along WHERE he was.  I told her that mommy and daddy were scared TO DEATH.  I was so mad I made her stand in the corner.  Sorry folks if this irks some of you.  I can't tell you how I felt.  I really thought something bad happened to my child.  I would feel the same way if I couldn't find Brianna too.  If you could see the way these cars go flying down our road (there really isn't a speed limit on these roads.  If there is, I have no clue what it is)  it would scare the daylights outta ya.  Majority of people drive down our road doing every bit of 80 mph.  NOTHING would stand a chance at that rate of speed...NOTHING.  My neighbor has lost TWO doggies that way.  Don't get me started.  Anyway...I didn't mean for this post to be about us finding Jacob.  It's supposed to be about Brianna's party!  Sorry!  I didn't have time to take many pictures.  I gave this job to Jack.  He didn't really have much time to take many either.  What he took is all I have.

These were majority of the children at Brianna's party.  From L to R:  Raina, Candria, Drew, Adan, Brianna, Isabel & Olivia.  They were waiting to take turns with the pinata.

I tried to get Jacob to pull one of the strings, but he wanted to pull ALL of them.  I lucked out and found a pinata that you didn't have to hit (I didn't realize this unti AFTER I had bought it).  It had strings at the bottom that the kids could pull.  One of the strings would open up a trap door at the bottom where all the candy would fall out.  Since I had to be the one to hold the pinata, that was great news for me!  I wouldn't get hit!  YAY!

Each child took a turn pulling a string.  This is Isabel pulling one.

Brianna pulling a string...

My nephew, Adan, taking a turn...

Next was Drew...

Candria gave it her best shot, but STILL no candy...

This little girl, Raina, was sooo teeny!  She is 2 months OLDER than Jacob.  He towered over her!  She was such a cutie pie!

I told all the kids that if we STILL didn't have any candy after everyone had two tries, they could all come up and start pulling to get the candy to come out.  Candria gave it one more try...

Candria did it!  She found the majic string that got the candy to come out!

This boy quietly sat aside while everyone grabbed to get some candy.  He wasn't interested in the least.  I don't know why.

The kids were all so excited about the candy!  Gee, imagine that!

We all heard a noise  and went running to see what it was.  It's a bird...it's a plane...it's a GOODYEAR Blimp!!  WOW.  Now what were the chances of that?  How cool!!

I think I only saw my sister in law, Danielle, twice REAL quick.  Once to say HI and once to say BYE.  Jack said she watched Jacob quite a bit.  Thank you Danielle!  He's a handful, isn't he?

As everyone was getting ready to leave, I forgot about the presents!  Now how could I forget about them??  I had to help Brianna open them real quick before everyone left.  She got some really neat presents!  Thank you to everyone for all the great gifts you gave to her!  That was so sweet!

Brianna opening up a present from Uncle Dave, Aunt Sarah & cousins Khloee, Adan and Lily.

Meet Cleo, Brianna's beloved Kitty from Buildabear workshop that Uncle Dave and Aunt Sarah made especially for her!  They have NOT been separated ONE day since they met...lol.

Everything put aside, Brianna's party was hectic for some of the adults, but I'm pretty sure the kiddos had fun!  Needless to say, we will most likely be having our parties at OUR house from now on...lol.   Thanks again to all who helped out!  Jack and I appreciate it!  We couldn't have done it without you!  Hope everyone had a great time!  Even we had fun too in all the chaos!
