The new rule about picking up toys before getting new ones out is actually going better than I expected. Since they saw me "throwing away" some of their older toys, they don't wanna take any chances of getting anymore taken away. They've been really good at picking up their toys over all. I'm actually quite shocked! I've told them that I don't care what they get out to play with as long as they put it away before getting something else out. After all, you can really only play with one thing at a time. They'll even come ask me if they can get something out before they do it. I've never asked them to do that, but it's nice that they do. I've especially told them that before they take a nap, go to bed or do something fun, the toys need to be picked up as well. Sometimes I do have to stand their to reinforce the rule a little, but after all, we're talking about a 5 year old & almost 3 year old. I think they're doing fabulous!
They wanted to play with some puzzles in their playroom/baby sister's room. I was a little afraid that they would lose pieces.
Brianna is showing her brother where this piece goes...
He's putting a puzzle piece where it belongs. They're getting ready to pick up so they can get something new out to play with.
Both kiddos putting their puzzles back together so they can put them away. They did really good and only lost one piece. We've looked high and low for it and have no idea where it got off to. Hopefully, it will turn up soon.
My fingers are crossed that this will be one rule that will stick for GOOD!
