I enjoy blogging. I enjoy reading other peoples' blogs. I learn a lot of things I normally wouldn't have otherwise. I can stay in touch with people without actually having to "talk". Again, it's all about the time restrictions people.
I get a rush out of yard saling. This is hard to explain. I love to shop, but can't afford to go out to buy a lot of things that I would love for my kids to have. I can find clothes with the tags still on and items never even opened and taken out of their package for next to nothing. How great is that? People get rid of their unwanted "junk" and someone else buys it. WOW. I must say I am extremely picky when it comes to the things I buy. I won't buy just anything. I get name brand clothes, toys, etc for a fraction of what I can buy in the store new. So what if my kids are wearing clothes that are a year or so old? Doesn't bother them or me, for that matter. So what if my kids don't have the latest toys and gadgets? At their ages, who cares? They don't. Neither does my wallet. I've been told that my kids have more "stuff" than any other kid they know. Well, how do you think they got it? You'd never know that a majority of my kids "stuff" (whether it be clothes or toys) came from yard sales. So what. Some people act like it's beneath them to shop this way. I'm not one of them. I think I've become a garage sale "specialist", if you will. I just made that up, as if you didn't know that! I plot out my routes everytime I go. There's an art or a science to it. I know which places and areas to go to and which to stay away from. I mostly go to the same places year after year. It's nice to go to ones that people have kids that are a year or so older than mine! For example...one lady's yard sale I attend every year, works for Gymboree. Her daughter is a year older than B. Over half the clothes she doesn't even wear. So I buy new Gymboree clothes for $1-$2 an item instead of $10-$15. Now who's smart here? Hmm... THESE are the types of yard sales I go to. I'm not too good to go to yard sales, I'm just trying to be smart about saving a few bucks!
I got this cute Dorothy the Dinosaur hat for Jacob. Notice who's NOT wearing it? Don't worry...it gets washed before they can wear it.
Jacob didn't really know what to think of this hat...
I think he took a likin' to it...lol.
Both my kids are REALLY...REALLY into the Wiggles. It's just ashame we can't get them on T.V. anymore. They're on a station we don't get. I found all of these VHS tapes for only $1.00 each! What a steal! These will keep 'em entertained for HOURS!
A Wiggles roll along back pack I got for Jacob.
My kids also like Curious George too. I had to buy this movie for them. It had never been opened. We watched this tonight. It was such a cute movie! My kids were GLUED to the t.v. for once.
Bob the Builder Pillow for Jacob. He LOVES this!
Does this look like a kid who cares that this came from a yard sale? Nope, didn't think so.
A cool guitar shaped case I got for Brianna.
I thought she'd like putting things in here to carry around
She's showing her brother she can put coins in here to carry around like a purse...lol. He looks real interested, doesn't he?
Brand spankin' new shoes I bought for Brianna. Never been worn before, how 'bout that? Got 'em for .50 cents each.
Brianna LOVES TinkerBell AND purple. I got this brand new bed canopy for her. The package has never been opened!
Cute Barbie back pack for B.
Both kids like Blue's Clues too. I got Jacob this stuffed Blue.
I love crazy lounging pants to wear to bed. I have several pair. I found these at a garage sale today. Do I like the Simpsons? NO. Do I like these crazy pants? YES. So, I had to buy them. For $1.00, who cares?
I thought these jeans were the cutest! I had to get them for Jacob!
I even found brand new Avon stuff! Wouldn't ya know, I found Pomegranate & Mango body lotion and spray! You know how I'm into Pomegranate!
You can find so many name brand clothes. Today, I found Tommy Hilfiger
Jammies from Baby Gap
Shirts and pants from The Children's Place
OSHKOSH
Old Navy sweat pants for Jacob
Old Navy rain jacket
Two brand new shirts for Brianna
Adorable little black dress for Brianna
Does this girl look like she really cares where her clothes come from? Heck no!
I even found this cool clock for Jacob's room!
I found several skirts for Brianna that still had the tags on them! How exciting! Sorry, it doesn't take much to get me going anymore..haha.
Brianna loves puzzles. I found a set of six that came in their own box.
There are 6 puzzles. Alphabet puzzle, farm yard puzzle, number puzzle, magnet puzzle, shapes puzzle and USA puzzle. Brianna likes to play with these. The only one that would be the least bit challenging for her would be the USA one. That one teaches you the states and capitals. Jacob likes to play with them. Only to take the pieces and throw them. We've had to put them up for now until he can stop throwing them all over.
These are some of the treasures I found today! Maybe some of your "trash" laying around your house could be someone else's "treasure"! I'm having a yard sale (at my mother in law's) in May to get rid of some of my "trash". I gotta make room for all my"new treasures"! My kids loved all their "new treasures". They don't care if they were someone else's "trash"!
