#1 - It's going to be VERY loud there. There are a lot of venders with shows going on (some at the same time - like they're competing) at their individual booths. Some play VERY loud music. Matrix is one of them (for those of you who even know what Matrix is). It's a company that makes a line of hair products. Some shows are so loud, you can scream as loud as you can and you won't even hear yourself. You really need earplugs!
#2 - There will be some CRAZY things and people there! Now THAT'S an understatement. I told him to keep his comments to himself. He's known for blurting things out kinda loud that others can hear (that really shouldn't). I told him if it gets too hard to control himself, then he can mumble comments QUIETLY under his breath. =) Sunday was like a freak show! WOW. That's all I can say about that. The first day is usually like that. Monday was much more tame, by comparison. Monday, my wonderful mom went along with me, to give Jack a break and so I didn't have to go alone. She's more into hairshows than Jack is anyway. Hehe.
You can find some really great deals there! They even had a bargain bin area that you could get things for next to nothing! There are so many deals and specials going on, you can leave there spending a small fortune. When I go, I only bring so much money. I have to be a tightwad when it comes to spending. That is NOT one of my better qualities. I am getting better though. So, when my money runs out, it's time to go home. You also have to budget for food too. There's nothing like spending $4 for a pretzel , $1.50 for a SMALL cup of cheese sauce, $5 for a hot dog (and not even a great one at that) and $6 for nachos! You get my point. Those are just some of the prices I could remember. Even a soda is $4! Jack and I bought one out of the vending machine for $2. Geez...that was a no brainer. Anyway, I'll get on with the show, so to speak, and show you some of the pictures I was able to take. I was soooo tempted to take pictures of all the "freaky" things, but that would've been too weird. I didn't wanna get beat up or anything. You should've seen some of the people there! I was scared! Jack said it looked like some other guys there were "dragged against their will" by their wives too. I told him that he wasn't dragged here by me, he offered to go to protect me in the event of danger...lol. He had nothing to say to that. Yeah, that's what I thought. LOL. I'm giving you an advance warning...there will be A LOT of pictures in this post! So get ready! I'm even gonna make a few appearances so stay tuned!
The tickets to get into the show. They're at the top. All the other stuff was coupons that venders gave out. These tickets were expensive! If you were a BIG time procrastinator you could get them at the door for $75 bucks a pop. Yeah, um no thanks. I'll pass.
The Discover Show 2010 entrance
Pictures of some of the vendors at the show. Some of the things were soooo expensive! YIKES!!
This complete set of of skin care products was over $1300!!! I think I'll stick to Oil Olay.
Matrix had a huge screen so EVERYONE could see their show. Even if you weren't around their booth.

These mats this vendor was selling were HEAVENLY! They were like walking on clouds. I wish I would've had one of these when I was working in a salon. Maybe my back wouldn't have hurt me so much. These mats go around the client's chair to help the stylist. It helps your legs, feet and back not hurt so much.
Another vender
The PRAVANA vendor! They're one of my FAVORITES! Their hair products are AWESOME!!!

Some of the "bargains" I found on the first day. K-PAK is wonderful for stressed out hair (people who color, highlight, perm their hair, etc). This particular item is a 4 step process that is an intensive conditioning system. You do steps 1,2 and 3 BEFORE coloring/highlighting and steps 2 & 4 AFTER you're finished. It makes the color adhere to your hair much better. This is wonderful! K-PAK has saved my hair on more than one occassion.
sexy hair is the BEST when it comes to hairspray, gel, etc. This is only my opinion though. One vender said that she'd NEVER hear of this before (how can that be?). She LOVED the hairspray! She said it held really well and made the hair shiny too. This is my all time favorite hairspray...EVER. It's light, yet holds hair in place great.
Some PRAVANA products I bought. Their leave in conditioner is WONDERFUL. It makes the hair so silky soft without weighing it down. It doesn't make it look greasy, which is VERY important to me. It's so hard to find a great leave in conditioner. I also LOVE their powder lightener for highlighting. No sitting under the dryer for this product. It's amazing how it works! Sorry, I'm a hair product nerd...lol.
D A Y T W O:
I was totally AMAZED by this woman, Tammy. I was so intrigued, I watched her show BOTH days. She ONLY cuts hair with clippers...no scissors. She said she has carpal tunnel really bad and they make it easier on her. I've NEVER seen ANYONE cut hair with clippers before....LONG hair, that is. Sure, I've seen men get hair cuts with clippers, I've done it thousands of times. NEVER long hair though. It was so cool! It was much faster than cutting with scissors. It was amazing how much better the hair looked than cutting it with scissors. Scissors made the hair look blunt and choppy, while the clippers gave the hair this amazing softness look.. I had Tammy cut my hair with the clippers. Unfortunately, in 6 weeks (when I'm due for my next haircut) I don't know of anyone who can cut my hair like this. Tammy lives in Maine so I don't think I'm traveling THAT far to maintain my new look!
Tammy, demonstrating how to do the cut I had requested her to do. She tells the audience, "NO PAY, NO SAY". I actually agree with her on that. She said that there would be more beautiful people out there if they would listen to their stylist! She said that we get paid to know what looks good and what doesn't. HOW TRUE! If I can't vision a cut or color on someone, I don't think it's a good look for them. 99% of the time, I'm right.
I haven't had my hair THIS short since I got out of beauty school. That was 7 years ago! It's weird to feel a breeze on my neck now...lol.
Tammy has her own shop in her home and she works for Oster doing shows and workshops. She's awesome!
Showing how to cut a swing bob (this is the cut I had her do. Longer in the front and sides, while stacked shorter in the back). I didn't let her go too short though. She wanted to go pretty short....YIKES! Baby steps, people. Baby steps, here.
The back of my hair
The front. Sorry 'bout the horrible pictures. I had my hair fixed, but obviously she couldn't cut it that way. She blow dried my hair and that made it look frizzy. It doesn't look that way normally. I don't usually blow dry my hair too often. Just posting pictures so you could get the general idea.
A shirt I bought Brianna at the hair show. This is VERY appropriate! At home, she won't go anywhere without her hair fixed (her choice, not mine). Like mother, like daughter, I guess. :) Have I mentioned before that I'm a "girly girl"? Hehe.
Shirt I bought for Jacob. This is the front of it
The back of the shirt. This cracked me up! I had to get it for him. This IS true. Mullets are BAAAD!! Remember that people. Just say NO to mullets! Yeah, I know...Business in the front. Party in the back. I don't care...MULLETS ARE BAD no matter how ya look at it!
More bargains I found. It also didn't hurt that this cute purse came with this...lol.
More sexy hair products I bought the second day. I went back to their booth to buy hairspray and they were out! BUMMER. Never fear...I found some other great products to buy! There is this powder shampoo in this group. You just put it in your hair, wait 2-3 minutes and comb out! It gets out the natural oil and other products out of your hair! Now, how awesome is that? Great to use on those days that I'm running "late". Me...Late? NEVER! LOL.
Some great things I bought while browsing in the bargain bin area. These HUGE bottles of PRAVANA conditioner were only $2.00 a bottle! An extra bonus that they were PRAVANA. I also found some awesome conditioner from BIOLAGE that was only .50 cents per tube and some Detoxifying shampoo from the Sexy line too that was only .25 cents a bottle. A girl can NEVER have too much conditioner. I go through twice as much of it as I do shampoo. If you've learned nothing else, I hope you've learned that it's VERY...VERY important to use GOOD shampoo AND condtioner for your hair. Unfortunately, if you're not a hair stylist, you have to pay an arm and a leg for it (just about). Unless you know someone who can get it for you much cheaper...lol.
If you've stuck with me til the end of this post, Thank you! I warned you this was going to be a LONG one! I wish I could've worked in a salon longer, but it hurt my back too bad to stand all day. I really enjoy learning about hair and the products that work the best for what type and style. It's very interesting to learn about how each product works and what it does to help the hair look its best. Yes, I AM a hair nerd. I admit it. If you're not, I'm sure I just bored you to death. Thanks for hangin' with me through my addiction. I think I have OCD when it comes to this stuff. I go ga ga over all the products and other girly stuff! Sorry, I'll try to control myself a little better next time. :)
I also wanted to thank my wonderful husband and mother for attending this event with me. Both of you graciously took time out of your day to go so I wouldn't have to go alone. Thank you both very much! I don't know what I'd do without either of you! You guys are the greatest! I love you both, VERY much!
T H E E N D!!!
