Saturday 11/06/10 - Mary Kay Ladies take over St. Louis!

Today, I went with my adopted Mary Kay family to downtown St. Louis to visit.  Since my original Mary Kay family is over 2 hours away, I usually spend most of my time with my adopted family.  They treat me like one of their own.  We visited the City Garden, Union Station and ate at the Spaghetti Factory.  We were going to walk down to Busch Stadium and the Arch, but there were a few women that weren't able to walk very far so we had to enjoy some things from a far.  I was looking forward to visiting the new stadium.  I haven't been there since they built the new one back in 2006 (I only remember that cause it opened around the same time Brianna was born).   We visited the sights, visited with each other and managed to squeeze in some training too!  It was a great day!  I haven't visited Union Station since 1989.  Remember mom (sniff sniff)?  That is an inside joke only my mom will understand...lol.  =)

First up are the pictures I took while we were at the City Garden.  It's like a sculpture garden with pretty flowers.  It's probably prettier in the summertime.  It was an interesting place. (you'll have to excuse the dates on my pictures. My camera was going haywire. I couldn't get it to turn on for anything. After I did, this was the date it stamped on all my pictures until I noticed it and changed it. I think after almost 4 years of taking all these pictures, it's finally wearing out.  I think I need a new one!)

A Welcome sign explaining about the park

A sculpture of Pinocchio

A cool sculpture of a head!

You could go inside the head and look out the eyes!

Maybe my mind was in the gutter on this one.  What do YOU think?  Hmmm...

Cute bunny sculptures!

I have no idea what this was, but it was interesting.

When the weather is warmer, this is a pond filled with water.

This sign just grossed me out.  It's posted by the pond in the above picture.  You know they had to post this cause someone let their kids into the water w/a diaper on.  Eewww!!

It's sad to think that the city has to post a sign like this because people are too stupid to use common sense.  You may have to click on the picture to get it big enough to read this.  I couldn't believe it & of course, had to get a picture of it!

This was an exhibit where you stepped on the pads and it would make music.  My adopted director was making music in this picture.  Later on, I figured out how to play "Mary Had A Little Lamb".  This was really fun!

This is an electronic sign of two people walking.  They're not going anywhere, they're just walking.  Is it just me or does anyone else not get it?

This building reminded me of the one in the movie "Ghost Busters".

After we did all we could do and squeezed in some training, we decided to head down to Union Station.

This is the City Of St. Louis city hall.  In my "older" years I'm starting to appreciate the architechure of the older buildings.  They don't make them like they used to.

While we were walking, we found they were doing the Veteran's Memorial Parade.  We had to hurry to get to the other side of the street before the parade started.  They were honoring all the veterans from years past and present.  It was very touching.

There were neat planes flying over the city honoring all the men and women who gave their lives & and luxuries for all of us to be here and to have what we do.  Have YOU thanked a veteran today?

A HUGE helicopter in the middle of one of the streets you could go check out.

UNION STATION!!

This is what I saw when I first walked thru the door.  It's been over 21 years since I've been here.  It sure has changed A LOT!!

Some interesting things I saw while there...

Some cool shops in Union Station...

The back of a caboose sticking out of the wall

I found the name of this store amusing.  It could be MY store...lol.  After all, I AM fat AND sassy!  Bahahaha!!

There was this exhibit where you could wear a harness and jump as high as you could on a trampoline.  It looked fun...from a distance!  Believe it or not, we even saw a pregnant woman doing this.  I'm not sure if you're supposed to do that, are you?

Since we weren't able to go to Busch Stadium or the Arch, we decided to go to the Spaghetti Factory.  I couldn't take many pictures because it was so dark inside.

I know this picture is dark, but this staircase was beautiful!  The inside of this restaurant was amazing!

Our director surprised us and had appetizers waiting for us at our table!  She is so awesome!

I wasn't too impressed with the food here.  It was okay.  Then again, I'm not really into italian food.  My opinion of the Spaghetti Factory is that it's over rated.  Again, my opinion!  I did like their creamy pesto house dressing on their salad though!  It was REALLY yummy!
