Saturday 4/29/11- Sour Puss

Earlier on in the week, I called to talk to Brianna's teacher regarding an "incident" that I "thought" had happened in school.  Brianna told me that a little girl in her class pushed her head into the wall and made her cry.  I thought it was strange that none of her teachers had mentioned this to me so I called to speak to the head teacher regarding this.  After speaking to her, she told me that nothing like that happened.  When she confronted Brianna about her "head hurting" she said Brianna told her that no one did it, Jacob did it at home.  Brianna told me that she cried and the little girl had to stand in the corner.  Her teacher said that in the two years she's had Brianna in her classroom, she's NEVER seen Brianna cry...EVER.  I was shocked when she told me that!  She whines and cries at home AND even acts worse over at G'ma Parker's house.  Come to find out, Brianna made the whole thing up!  I couldn't believe it!  I told her teacher, I would speak to Brianna about lying.  So, that evening, I pulled Brianna aside and asked her again what happened when that girl in her class hurt her.  Brianna told me the whole story just as she had before.  Not missing one detail.  I mentioned to her that I spoke to her teacher about it and she had a totally different story than what Brianna had told me.  I asked her again if it was true.  She confessed that it wasn't.  She made up the whole thing.  I asked her why she told a fib about being hurt.  She said her head really did hurt, but she was scared to tell anyone.  I told her that no one can help it when they don't feel good, regardless of what it is that's bothering them.  I told her if she doesn't tell someone, we can't help her.  I also told her if she doesn't stop telling lies,  no one will believe her anymore.  I told her the story about the "Boy who cried wolf".  I really peaked her interest with that.  She wanted me to tell it again.  I told her it was the same thing with her. If she keeps telling fibs, no one will believe her when she is telling the truth.  I can't believe my little girl is already telling lies.  Good grief!   When I told G'ma Parker about all this, she couldn't believe it either.  She also couldn't believe that Brianna NEVER cries at school!!

I caught her throwing a BIG fit about something.  I told her I was going to take her picture to show her teacher at school.  Her teacher says she the "perfect" student at school.  She helps clean up, she NEVER sasses back and is very polite.  I asked if we were talking about the same child?   Here she is throwing a fit...

There!  That's MUCH better!  I like this face A LOT better than the sour puss!

**Also, I asked her, "Jacob didn't push your head into the wall, did he?"  She said, "No, he didn't."  I asked her why she told her teacher that?  She didn't say anything.  I asked her if she wanted everyone to think that Jacob was a mean little boy?  (He's not mean, he's just ornery)  She said she didn't.  I told her that she needed to stop telling people bad things about her brother.  That wasn't nice.  I told her that I know she doesn't want people saying mean things about her, so she shouldn't say them about others.  I also don't know why she would've said her head hurt.  She hasn't mentioned it since then.  If she does, I guess we'll be taking another trip to the doctor.  UGH.
