Sunday 7/17/11 - We're turning into Tadpoles around here!

It's official...my kids are turning into tadpoles!  They LOVE the water and swimming!  Since it was such a hot day, Jack took the kiddos swimming again.  I promise I won't post pictures each week of the kids swimming, but there are some really cute ones I took that I wanted to share.   The temperature outside seemed even hotter today that it did yesterday at the parade and even last week when we were swimming.  I couldn't take it and had to go inside for a while.  This summer is really tough on me being pregnant and all.  I don't recall summer being this hot when I was pregnant with Jacob 3 years ago.   I just can't tolerate it like I used to.  Maybe it's because I'm getting "older" too.  I keep telling my doctors that there are a lot of things I'm having issues with this time that I didn't have with the other 2 pregnancies.  I must say that I'm not thrilled with their explanation as of WHY this is.  Their response is, "WELL, you DO know that you ARE OLDER this time?  Age can take a toll on your body and cause it to do things it normally wouldn't do." Um yeah, gotcha doc.  Not the explanation I was looking for.  I get it.   Anyway, I'll stop my complaining and get on with posting the pictures I took...

We bought the kids some different floaty things for the pool.  They're made out of similar material that the noodles are made from, but resemble a board.  We thought they'd be easier for them to hold onto.  Brianna wanted pink.

Jacob wanted orange.

He decided he needed his mask on too.  :)

Haha!  His mask is a little too big for his face!

Daddy was helping Brianna get her mask on.  Since her brother had his on, she had to have hers on too.  She said she can't go under water without it.

Her mask is a little big for her face too.  She'll be able to wear it for a few years.

Look at her go!  She can swim without holding on to anything!  She's really taking a liking to swiming!  I could possibly see swimming lessons in her future too.

He liked to hold onto both of these to help him float around the pool and keep his head above water.  He never wanted Jack too far out of his sight though.

Here, she was trying to tread water.  Jack had showed her how.  It almost looks like she's walking on the bottom of the pool!  She's still a little too short to reach it.

Brianna would have Jacob get on this raft so she could pull him around by the rope on it.  He liked it, but had a hard time holding on.   Jack had to help him so he wouldn't flip over and go under water.  He did better this week about not swallowing so much water.  :D

Brianna pulling her brother around the pool...

Brianna wanted to be pulled around the pool, so Daddy helped her out since Jacob wasn't really able to.  She thought it was super fun!

I brought this floaty frog out for Jacob to see if it would help him float better.  He wasn't interested in it so Brianna wanted to try it out.

We only stayed out in the pool for about a hour or so due to the heat.  It was close to the kids' naptime anyway.  We like to take the kids swimming before their nap.  It wears them out so they sleep better!  Plus it's great exercise for them too.  :)   I think, if we'd let them, they'd stay out in the pool to swim all day!
