Wednesday 8/17/11 - A bittersweet day

I was hoping for the longest time that I wouldn't be in the hospital when Brianna started her 1st day of Kindergarten.  Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way.  Today is her very 1st day of "real" school.  It's also the day Kyndall & I get discharged from the hospital.  Thankfully, Jack is home and will get to see Brianna's classroom and new school for the very first time.  I was able to see it a week ago when she had orientation.  I mentioned to her teacher at that time, I may not be able to make it to her first day of school for the parent/teacher conference.  I told her if I couldn't, her dad would be there.  It worked out and I'm glad Jack was able to go.  He took TONS of pictures of her on her 1st day for me!  Her day was only 1 hour & 20 minutes long.  I will only post a few, as I don't remember what all they were doing in these pictures.  Jack said they went on a scavenger hunt to find a gingerbread man.  I'm a ball of emotions because I'm happy that my little girl is growing up, but sad that she is too.  I wish she could stay little for just a while longer.  Well, with a new baby in the house now, I'm kinda glad she'll be gone for a few hours out of the day.  That's one less kid I have to deal with!

Her 1st day being a Kindergartner!

Brianna coloring a gingerbread man

Her kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bradshaw reading a story to the class.

She LOVES to make colorful pictures!

She can write her name really well!  In kindergarten, the children are expected to write their name with the 1st letter being capitalized. The rest are all lower case.

Her class had to make their own gingerbread man.

Jack looks like one proud pappa, doesn't he?  He's so proud of his little girl!

Mrs. Bradshaw talking to Brianna and another classmate...

They have a Kinder Princess

And a Kinder Prince

They had to line up to go on a hunt to find their gingerbread man!  He went missing!  OH NO!!

Jack said Brianna was one of the only kids in this group that minded when told to go line up at the door.  He said most of the other kids took off running.  I can't tell you how thankful I am she went to Pre-K.  She learned so much by going!

The had to walk single file down the hallway to the lunchroom

Brianna said they have to walk with their hands behind their backs.  Probably so they keep them to themselves...lol.

Mrs. Bradshaw was cutting up a "real" gingerbread cookie for the kids to eat!  YUMMY!

The kids eating the cookie and juice

Yummy!  Snacks are good!

After Brianna's 1st day of school was over, Jack drove over to the hospital to pick Kyndall and I up so we could go home.  He had to show me all the pictures he took of Brianna's 1st day!  He told me how it went and how proud he was of her!

Kyndall in her car seat for the 1st time all ready to go home!  What a sweet little face!  Glad we get to take her home with us!

Already getting cozy in her bassinet at home!

G'ma & G'pa Parker came out to bring B & J home after Jack, Kyndall and I got home from the hospital.  B had to show them how good she was at holding her!
