Saturday 12/05/09 - My little helper

After I put both kids to bed, I started to finish up my laundry and get things ready to start dinner. Needless to say, I didn't get very far. After being in bed for UNDER a 1/2 hour, Brianna came sneaking out of her room holding a bottle of her fingernail polish. I asked her, "Why aren't you in bed taking your nap?" Her reply was, "Mommy, I can't sleep until I get my fingernails painted." Huh? OMG...I couldn't believe that! So, I had to paint her nails so I could get her to take her nap...well, kind of. After I painted her nails, I sprayed some stuff on that makes the polish dry quickly. I was very tired after my unsuccessful photo shoot earlier and needed a much needed break! She went back to bed, but I could hear her talking on the monitor. I went into her room, after about 10 minutes, to ask if she was going to take a nap today. She told me that she wasn't tired. I told her she could get up and come out into the kitchen with me. I asked her if she wanted to help me bake Christmas cookies for daddy. She was really excited! She LOVES to help!
Yes, I know...this is cheating, but hey, the end product tastes the same. Only less messy! These were the cookies we baked. Snowman sugar cookies, Candy Cane chocolate chip and Mint swirled chocolate chip...YUM! I don't usually have much time to do baking so this is as good as it gets people. Haha.

Brianna "arranging" the cookies on the pan.

She kept putting them practically on top of each other so I had to fix them...lol.

Brianna loves to help out in any way she can. She's such a good little girl. This gave us some bonding time since Jacob was napping. I don't get to spend much quality time with her because I'm usually too busy chasing after her brother!

Brianna was very proud of herself! She did a great job!

Tasting the final product. She agreed they were VERY good!

Times like these (baking cookies) can be the most memorable times a mom can have with their kids. Kids ARE quite the little helpers, even if it means cleaning up more AFTER the project. It's worth it.
