Today, Brianna was invited to a birthday party of a little girl she goes to school with. I was told I could bring Jacob along so I didn't have to have Grandma Parker watch my little devil. When the girl's mom called me to ask if Brianna would like to come, she told me it was going to involve water. She was going to have a blow up slide of some sort outside for the kids to play on. I thought that would be fun so I dressed both kids in their swimming suits and off we went. Jack even tagged along because he's been laid off again since July 9th (UGH). When we got to the party, my kids were the only ones dressed in their swimming suits. We didn't see a water slide anywhere so I asked the girl's mom about it. She told me that the slide they wanted to use had a hole in it so they decided to have a clown come visit instead. I told her I wish I would've known this because I would've dressed my kids better. My kids were dressed, ready to swim! They looked like little rag pickers compared to everyone else. She said she had sent everyone an email notifying them, but she didn't send me one cause she didn't have my email address. Well, she had my phone number!! That's how she asked us about the party in the beginning! Brianna's friend's mom kept calling me Becky the whole time we were there. It took me a few minutes to figure out she was talking to me, but I didn't have the heart to correct her. I figured my name would be Becky for a few hours, that's all...lol. Jack and I stood outside on their deck with Brianna's friend's dad. Turns out, Jack knew him from way back in their school days. They did some catching up. He was also pretty smart cause he asked me what my "real" name was. I looked at him kinda funny and said, "I don't know what you're talking about?" He said, "I see the way you look at my wife when she calls you Becky. That's not your real name, is it? She's really bad with names." I was floored that he could pick all that up! When I told him my name was Kelly, not Becky he said, "WOW...she was way off!" I said, "Well, she meant well. I didn't have the nerve to correct her. Besides, both names have an 'E' and 'Y' in them." We all laughed about it! I told him not to tell his wife. He made sure before we left he corrected her and told her my "real" name! I don't know who was more embarrassed, she or I!
Getting ready to go to her friend's birthday party!
This little dude was such a handful at the party! He didn't behave himself very well.
The clown that was at the party. Her name is "Ardy". She's the clown that's at the PBJ that we go to!
Brianna with her "butterfly" balloon
Jack catching up on "old times" with his friend. They hadn't seen each other in years. What's the luck of that? His kids and our kids are the same age so they'll be going to school together! He was a super nice guy!
Jacob was telling Ardy the clown what kind of balloon he wanted
Ardy even did face/body paintings for the kids too! This little girl wanted a snake.
Brianna wanted a flower painted on her leg. Of course she had to have orange and yellow to match her swimming suit!
Ardy got out some puppets and did a show for the kids and read stories. She had the kids help her make it up as she went along. They all enjoyed it!
The birthday girl's cake. It was from the movie Ice Age.
Brianna & Jacob had a blast! Birthday parties are so much fun!
