Thursday 7/15/10 - Big Boy Bed

This post is one that I've done before, but only it was for Brianna.  Jack and I decided it was time to take Jacob's crib down and put up his big boy race car bed.  The big reason for us making this difficult decision was that Jacob has become quite the expert at climbing in AND out of his crib.  We're afraid he's going to hurt himself so we thought it would be best if we put together his toddler bed and set it up in his room.  I took pictures of him when he first saw it.  His eyes lit up and he had the biggest grin on his face that I've ever seen!  He was one happy little boy!  This was a bitter sweet moment for me (doing this conversion).  I'm glad my baby boy is growing up, don't get me wrong.  This means he's gaining independence (and I want him to, really I do).   It also means he's not a baby anymore and doesn't depend on me for everything like he used to.  I'm happy about this, but sad all at the same time.  Maybe this makes sense to some of you, maybe it doesn't.  Never fear, Jakey...you'll ALWAYS be my little boy!   I'll let you know how tonight goes.  We'll see how well he'll like sleeping in his race car bed.  Hopefully, it will go better than Brianna's FIRST conversion.  If you remember, Jack had to change her bed back to her crib because she was so attached to it.  We had to wait several months then try it again.  Jacob doesn't mind change as much as Brianna does.  I guess that's one thing she did get from me.  I hate change too.

Look how happy he is!  He was thrilled to death!

His big sister had to try out the new bed too.

He was so happy, he didn't care how many pictures I took!  He STILL kept smiling!  Hey, I had to take advantage of it.  1.) He was looking at the camera  2.) He had his eyes open & 3.)  He was SMILING the whole time!

Brianna said she loved her brother's new bed.  I asked her if she wanted to trade Jacob her bed for his.  She told me, "Mommy, I don't like Jacob's bed THAT much."

After taking a few pictures, I realized I forgot to make his bed with the sheets I bought for it.  Believe it or not, I bought this toddler race car bed for $35 at a yardsale!  The sheets, pillowcase and quilt were only $10 for the set!  I wasn't about to pay an arm and a leg for a bed like this when he's gonna out grow it like lickety split!  The theme of the bed set is from the movie "Cars".

Look how happy he STILL is!  Isn't he the cutest little boy you've ever seen?  He is to me cause I'm his momma and I say so!

Yes, he's STILL smiling and looking at the camera!  I couldn't resist posting all of these pictures.  I couldn't believe he was cooperating this long for me!   You can imagine the excitement that must have been running through his little body!

I asked him to "pretend" like he was asleep so I could take his picture.  I told him I wanted to see what he looked like sleeping in his new bed.  As you can see, he was happy to "pretend" for me.

Hopefully tonight he will look like this ALL night long!  My fingers are crossed.  :D
