Friday 4/1/11 - Happy April Fools Day!

I hope everyone is having a Happy April Fools Day today!  Ours isn't turning out to be so great.  This a.m., while Brianna was eating her breakfast, I took her temperature before I gave her her antibiotic.  We have this little hand held thermometer that you scan the forehead with and it reads your temperature in a matter of seconds. The ones you put in your mouth or put under the arm can take up to 5 minutes to read one's temperature.  I usually take her temperature 3 times to make sure what I'm getting is accurate.  Her's today was 99.4 the first two times and 99.2 the 3rd time.  Since today is the third full day she's been on medicine, I thought the fever SHOULD be going away.  I realize that a person's temperature normally fluctuates throughout any given day to begin with, BUT I thought her fever should be gone by now.  So, being the over protective mother that I am,  just to be on the safe side, I called her doctor again today about her fever.  In a matter of minutes, the doctor's nurse (who knows Brianna about as well as the doctor does) called back.  I told her about her fever still being present.  I told her it seems like every time she's given Amoxicillin, it isn't strong enough and we end up coming back for her to be re-evaluated.  At that time, she's usually given a stronger antibiotic (usually Omnicef).  It ALWAYS does the trick.  I feel like I'm going to have to start insisting that they put her on it in the begining.  So, today we have yet ANOTHER appointment with the doctor (our THIRD one) so he can make sure she's not getting sick with anything else.  Plus, we need to have a doctor's note for clearance so she can go back to school (trying to keep a positive outlook here) monday.  So, that's where we stand at the moment.  It changes from minute to minute.  I'm so tired of all the sickness around here I could just scream!   I'll let ya know how the doctor's appointment goes.  Stay tuned...
