Friday 6/10/11 - Going on a picnic!

Today, I thought the kids would enjoy packing a lunch and visiting a local park.  I took them to a different park than where we usually go just for a change in scenery.  I didn't get a chance to take many pictures because they had me hopping!  It was really hot today so we didn't stay too long.  Fortunately in this park, there are TONS of HUGE trees that provide a lot of shade.  We ate our lunch under a big shade tree and where we played, it was mostly shaded by trees as well.  Including eating, we only stayed about 40 minutes.  After that, I decided it was time to leave.  It was just too stinkin' hot outside and it was getting close to nap time.  The kids didn't argue with me too much.  ;)

Brianna is eating her bologna sandwich.  I packed sandwiches for all of us, pretzels, pudding and fruit for our snack.  I also made sure to bring a lot of water to drink.   It was a little breezy where we were sitting so our plates and napkins kept blowing away.  We were still thankful for the breeze!  Otherwise, I'm sure it would've felt much hotter than what it was.  The temperature today is supposed to reach about 95 degrees!  OUCH!!

Jacob likes to eat Salami sandwiches.  Only he usually takes the meat off and eats it separately from his bread.  This is the only kind of lunchmeat I can get him to eat.  Believe it or not, I can't get either of my kids to try a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.  That would make it so much easier for me!  Brianna will eat just about any kind of lunchmeat now.  Her favorite is Bologna & Turkey!  I'm glad I packed several containers of pudding.  This little boy ate 3 of them!  :)

This was about the only part of the playground that wasn't shaded.  The swings weren't either, but they were too hot to sit on.  Luckily the rest of the playground was shaded, especially the slides!  After we were finished playing, we ate our fruit, drank plenty of water and headed for home!  Even though our time here was cut short due to the heat, we still had a fun time!  Maybe the next time we visit here, it won't be as hot!
