Friday 6/24/11 - Fun in the Summertime!

Yes, it's THAT time again...SUMMER TIME!  Time to do fun things you normally wouldn't get to do when the weather is cooler and school is in session.  The town of Highland, IL has their Peanut Butter & Jam festival every summer from the end of May til right before school starts back up for the year in August.  I finally have a free friday to take the kiddos today!  The weather isn't supposed to be quite as hot so I promised them I would take them for a little while.  Mostly, they wanted to splash and play around in the fountain on the square.  We tried to find the lady who paints pictures on the kids' faces, but we didn't see her.  The line for the clown, who makes the balloon animals, was so long I really didn't feel like standing there.  It's hard for me to stand in one position for a long time these days, so I told them, maybe next time.  We still had fun walking around and even played a few games!  They both won suckers for trying for the big prize.  I don't let them have candy or sweets too often, but I figured once in a while it was okay.  I didn't get many pictures of our adventure today, but I did manage to take a few of them playing in the fountain.  Enjoy!!

Aren't my babies cute?!  I asked if they would sit on the bench so I could get both of their pictures together.

They wanted to so see the fountain.

They both loved playing in the water!  I have no idea what on earth their fascination is with water.  Brianna made a comment about how dirty the fountain was.  She said someone needed to clean it...lol.

I love this picture of the two of them!  Just wish B was looking more towards the camera.

Back to playing in the water again...

I had a difficult time, but I finally managed to pry them away from the fountain.  The PBJ was over and it was time to go home.  It's the simple things in life that are the most enjoyable, it seems.  I love to sit back and watch my kids enjoying life and all the simple things in it!  Ahhh...to be an innocent child again!  Whatever it is, I hope you can manage to find a few minutes to enjoy the simple things life has to offer too!  Happy Summer to you!
